I first went to an IIW in October 2005 as a result of some diplomatic coercion from <a href=\"http:\/\/photos.windley.com\/gallery\/view_photo.php?set_albumName=idmashup06&#038;id=DSC_0008\">Dr Nadalin<\/a>. It&#8217;s been an amazing series of workshops. A small, almost-militantly-informal gathering of people that talk about abstract notions of &#8220;identity&#8221;, and how to make them real.  I have heard them ridiculed as &#8220;grass roots&#8221; gatherings and indicative of the &#8220;bottom up&#8221; movements in Internet identity systems. That&#8217;s the best kind. I do believe these workshops have changed the direction of identity systems and how we will interact over the Internet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/iiw.windley.com\/wiki\/Workshop2006b#Who_is_Coming\">Lots<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.windley.com\/archives\/2006\/10\/announcing_iiw2006b.shtml\">of<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaliyasblogs.net\/Iwoman\/?p=476\">very<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openrowley.com\/2006\/11\/27\/internet-identity-workshop-iiw-2006b\/\">cool<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmlgrrl.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/11\/28\/lets-all-mash-up-at-eeugh\/\">people<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/equalsdrummond.name\/\">will<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/daveman692.livejournal.com\/\">be<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialphysics.org\/\">there<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.identitycommons.net\/\">collaborating<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/opensso.dev.java.net\/\">on<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openidenabled.com\/\">lots<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/whobar.org\/\">of<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.eclipse.org\/index.php\/Higgins_Wiki\">very<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bandit-project.org\/\">cool<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/xmldap.org\/\">projects<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/openid.net\/\">and<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/osis.netmesh.org\/\">initiatives.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will be attending and hope to help demo how an identity provided by an LDAP directory via <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.eclipse.org\/index.php\/Higgins_Wiki\">Higgins<\/a> (IdP and STS) can work through a <a href=\"http:\/\/cardspace.netfx3.com\/content\/Dogfood.aspx\">Microsoft infocard client<\/a> to access an open source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediawiki.org\/wiki\/MediaWiki\">MediaWiki<\/a> &#8212; with authorization provided by a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bandit-project.org\/\">Bandit<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bandit-project.org\/index.php\/Role_Engine\">component<\/a>. Multiple open source projects working together &#8212; surrounding Microsoft.
